Casemiro has been announced as Manchester United’s player of the season after a vote by fans on the club website and app.
The number 18 was voted as the clubs player of the month ahead of both Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, with a huge 70% of the vote on the official club website.
Casemiro has been Manchester United‘s most prolific player this season, with four goals and an assist already. Three goals and an assist this month secured the award, despite what was a terrible period for the club.
Following the announcement that he had won the award, fans on social media reacted, with not all taking it as a positive.

Casemiro wins player of the month
Fans took to X with their views, arguing it is a telling reflection of the current situation at Manchester United.
One wrote a scathing response to the announcement saying: “Our holding midfielder getting POTM because of the goals he scored & not because of his actual performances is a decent summary of the season so far.”
Another wrote: “Casemiro lets the opposition score a boatload of easy cut back goals, but then he goes and scores one header at the other end”, in response to the announcement of his award win.
A third questioned the Brazilian’s role in the team: “I just don’t understand why Erik ten Hag has given Casemiro so much responsibility on the ball. It makes no sense”.
Casemiro’s form overshadowed by goals
As a defensive midfielder, Casemiro hasn’t been doing a good job at what he is required to do. Often caught out on the counter and unable to get back quick enough as teams hit United on the break, he has struggled.
This has left many fans bemused by his form, and explains the disappointment over him winning the award. It appears he has been judged off his goals rather than his actual performances in the role which he is supposed to do.
