Manchester United fans are all saying the same thing as Andre Onana is brutally dropped at AFCON

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been dropped by Cameroon at AFCON.

The 27-year-old missed Cameroon’s first game in the competition, not included as he played for Manchester United against Spurs just a day before.

His appearance in their second wasn’t great. He made 0 saves and conceded three which meant Cameroon’s AFCON fate hung in the balance for the final game.

They now play Gambia, in which Andre Onana has been dropped.

Andre Onana dropped at AFCON

The football world was shocked to find out that Onana was dropped to the bench by his manager for the national side.

Cameroon boss Rigobert Song has benched the United shot-stopper for his side’s must-win clash with Gambia in the African Cup of Nations.

Instead, Fabrice Ondoa, who plays his football in the French third-tier with Nimes Olympique – has been preferred.

Chaos. This has left Manchester United fans all saying the same thing.

Red Devils fans quickly flooded to X after the news broke, and they all seem to agree on the same thing about Onana and Erik ten Hag:

‘Yet Ten Hag yet to drop him despite disaster after disaster,’ a first says.

‘Something Ten Hag couldn’t do in months is done in two games… should we be worried?’ says another.

A third says: ‘Cameroon manager has benched Onana after one game but Ten Hag refuses to bench him and give Bayindir an opportunity despite many terrible performances. Is this a pride thing?’

A final adds: ‘I hope Erik ten Hag learns from this because Onana has done us dirty this season.’

This, admittedly, is a worrying sign. Benched for a player who is in the third tier of French football is embarrassing.

Not a good look for Onana, Ten Hag or Manchester United.
