Manchester United fans react to Kobbie Mainoo’s England display
As Mainoo once again put in a stellar display in the midfield for England, United fans were reacting on X.
“Kobbie Mainoo hahaha. This is not a normal midfielder,” one fan tweeted.
While a second was in awe of the 18-year-old’s excellent play in the build-up to England’s penalty: “That Mainoo turn in the build-up to the penalty. Oh, my days.”
“Mainoo definitely better than Bellingham was at 18. Whether he reaches the same level as him now though, let’s see,” A fan boldly claimed.
A fourth then stated: “Carrington actually pulled a 150 million pound midfielder from their ____ I can’t believe it.”
Along similar lines one account wrote: “Mainoo might’ve genuinely saved United 75m as well as [Erik] Ten Hag’s job,” then continued, “Frenkie de Jong should also thank him, dude’s phone probably isn’t pinging every 30mins now.”
Finally, another fan was just overjoyed to have Mainoo at the club: “Mainoo is special, we’re blessed to have him.”
Mainoo has given Gareth Southgate no choice but to play him this summer
Before this international break, Gareth Southgate probably wasn’t completely convinced that Mainoo was worthy of being a starter for England at the Euros, citing his inexperience. But now after two top-class displays, he can’t be denied.
Mainoo dominated in midfield showing his elite ball skills and defensive acumen all in one.
Alongside Declan Rice in midfield, the pair have a perfect match as they complement each other, with Jude Bellingham, it’s a sensational midfield which should have the Three Lions well-placed to enjoy a successful summer in Germany.
