Last season was a tough pill to swallow for Manchester United fans.
Not because of the way Erik ten Hag‘s squad played, but more so how dominant their noisy neighbours were. Manchester City managed the elusive treble last season.
City’s manager Pep Guardiola managed the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup – equalling Sir Alex Ferguson‘s legendary achievement back in 1999.
It was a mega blow for United, with this feat only ever being accomplished by them. Now another bit of information that has had a knock-on effect from that season has emerged, with City apparently outdoing United once again.
Manchester City ‘outdo’ Manchester United
Manchester City announced a record-breaking revenue for the 22/23 financial year.
The club confirmed income of £712.8m, outstripping the Premier League record £648.4m reported by Manchester United last month.
However, the Old Trafford faithful are all in agreement with the credibility of this statement.
Manchester United fans suspicious of these figures
Amid allegations of 115 alleged breaches of FFP law for the Cityzens, Manchester United fans are all seemingly in agreement that these numbers could be more than a little suspicious.
A fan responds: ‘It’s strange how Man City make record revenue but can’t fill their stadium and doesn’t break down where the money has come from. Not suspicious at all.’
‘Call me sceptical but if they can’t even fill their stadium and I never see anyone with a City top on… where is the money coming from?’ another writes.
‘Unbelievable. How are they getting away with that?’ a third adds.
‘People believe this?’ and ‘I’m absolutely sure that there is nothing fishy about those figures’ two more chime in.
A lot of comments also just stated ‘115’ which probably has the biggest impact.
It will always be somewhat unclear if these figures are correct. But ‘suspicious’ is certainly the word that springs to mind.
