Manchester United delete tweet about Erik ten Hag
Manchester United like to be considered as the world’s biggest football club. But without any success to speak about lately, it’s a challenge to justify those claims.
It is even tougher, when United’s lack of silverware, leave the club in such dire straits that they have to celebrate the success of another team.
New manager Erik ten Hag is set to arrive at the club in a few weeks, and is closing in on the Eredivisie title. It could be clinched this week.
United have been trying to celebrate this success as their own. And it has come across very ‘small time’ for the biggest club around.

United delete tweet
Manchester United posted a message on Twitter on Monday lunchtime about Ten Hag closing in on the title. But this generated a furious online reaction.
Supporters felt like United were piggy-backing onto Ajax’s hard-earned success and trying to celebrate it as their own, to distract from the club’s woeful on pitch performances, including a shameful 4-0 defeat to Brighton at the weekend.
United then deleted the tweet, with it no longer accessible via their Twitter account. But we have a screenshot.
There is one upcoming trophy Manchester United may be able to celebrate, this week’s FA Youth Cup.
More than 50,000 fans are set to attend Wednesday’s game at Old Trafford, and you can expect Manchester United to milk it for all it is worth.
Deservedly so, the young players have worked hard to get there, to reach a first FA Youth Cup final in 10 years. It is just a shame that the club could use it as a propaganda tool to move the narrative on from the shambolic and dismal Premier League displays.
Erik ten Hag will not have been amused to see United’s performance at the weekend. Luckily for the club, he has already signed the contract.
