Manchester United boost in Eriksen chase as Tottenham step back from pursuit
The Athletic reported last week that Manchester United have submitted an offer to sign free agent Christian Eriksen.
The Denmark international is weighing up United’s offer, and the Red Devils’ chances are currently looking good.
United’s main competitors are considered to be Tottenham, who have the advantage of being Eriksen’s former club, and having his former Inter boss, Antonio Conte.
But a new report from Football London suggests Tottenham are backing away from the battle for the midfielder’s signature.

Tottenham step back from pursuit
The report states Tottenham ‘have not followed up’ interest in Eriksen so far this summer.
This leaves Manchester United in pole position to sign the free agent, who also has interest from Brentford, where he spent the second half of last season.
The Athletic reported last week United have offered Eriksen a contract, and he is currently weighing up his future.
Eriksen is one of two midfield signings Manchester United want to add, along with Frenkie de Jong.
While De Jong is set to be an expensive addition, Eriksen’s status as a free agent offsets the large transfer fee required to sign the Dutchman.
Tottenham could change their stance and offer Eriksen a deal, but the fact they have not yet done so, is a good sign for Manchester United.
Eriksen will be able to sign for United officially on July 1, and this date is fast approaching. He is currently on holiday after international duty for Denmark.
