Manchester United beat Wrexham 4-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Carrington which saw Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez make their debuts.

The match at Carrington against the National League side kicked off at 2pm and Erik ten Hag handed Eriksen and Martinez their non-competitive debuts for the club.

As well as giving his new two signings vital minutes ahead of the season, the former Ajax boss gave Raphael Varane and other senior players game time.

The MEN report that 30-year-old playmaker Eriksen opened the scoring before Aaron Hayden scored the equaliser for the non-league side heading into half-time.

United scored three goals without reply in the second half, with Alejandro Garnacho, Amad and Alex Telles on target.

Cristiano Ronaldo was in attendance to watch his teammates despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future.

Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and club captain were also watching on.

Manchester United’s pre-season attentions now switch to Saturday’s clash against Atletico Madrid in Oslo, Norway, on Saturday.

The following day the Reds face fellow La Liga side Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford in what will be Ten Hag’s first match at the Theatre of Dreams.

Diego Simeone’s side knocked us out of last season’s Champions League last-16 stage and the La Liga giants are one of several top European clubs who have been earmarked as a potential destination for Ronaldo, by his agent Jorge Mendes.
