The former Red Bull Leipzig midfielder, who plays his international football under former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick, will be hoping to make his debut for the Busby Babes against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Sabitzer will be donning the number 15 jersey for the club and he’ll be following in the footsteps of Manchester United legends like Nemanja Vidic, Paul Scholes, David Beckham and Gary Neville.

Having been officially unveiled by the club today, the box-to-box midfielder sent a message on Instagram expressing his excitement at the move.

He wrote: “Come on, @manchesterunited 🔴 I am looking forward to the opportunity to be part of this team. I would like to thank the officials at Manchester United for their trust in me. I am really excited to play in front of our passionate fans at Old Trafford and for this huge club with its big tradition. I am ready!”

United acted quickly to bring Sabitzer to the club after an injury to Christian Eriksen which will keep the Dane out until April.
