Following his latest display in the 3-1 England win over the Italians, Southgate heaped praise onto Maguire.

Speaking with the BBC post-game, Southgate was full of praise for his defender, insisting he is an important player for England.
“Ideally, we would have everyone playing regularly, but you can see Kalvin [Phillips] and Harry [Maguire] were both outstanding tonight.”
Continuing, Southgate explained that he isn’t bothered by the lack of club action with high competition being the reason.
“They are both important for us. They are up against really good players at their clubs”
In the game, Maguire completed 93% of his passes along with completing six defensive actions as per SofaScore.

Maguire has seen his form improve over the past few weeks, prior to the international break he was solid against Brentford.
