Manchester United are still in the race for the top four spots in the Premier League this season.
After a glorious start to 2024 for Erik ten Hag, Manchester United are finally within touching distance of the Champions League spaces once again – but they’re not without competition.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal all appear to be nailed on going off current form, which means there’s only one elusive spot left.
This looks set to be battled out for by United, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur – but who will ultimately take fourth spot?

How do Manchester United, Aston Villa and Tottenham rank currently?
As it stands in the Premier League table, this is how it looks regarding the battle for fourth spot. It’s worth noting every team has played 25 games at this point.
- 4th: Aston Villa – 49 points
- 5th: Tottenham – 47 points
- 6th: Manchester United – 44 points
Manchester United’s first-team squad have definitely made up some ground, but there’s work to be done. Just three points now separate Ange Postecoglou and Erik ten Hag, whilst Unai Emery’s Villans, and more importantly that Champions League spot, are now just five points away.
So who has the most difficult fixtures coming up? Can United potentially make further ground?

Verdict: Will Manchester United gain more ground on Champions League spots?
God, it’s tight – but Manchester United just have the edge going into the next five fixtures.
The obvious scary prospect is heading to the Etihad, but other than that – United face four teams in the lower half of the Premier League table.
As for Villa and Spurs – they face each other. That could be huge for United, particularly if the fixture ends in a draw.
Will Champions League nights be coming to Old Trafford next season? It’s extremely difficult to say – but these next five fixtures will give us a much better idea.
