Manchester United are preparing to sell players to fund Ruben Amorim’s squad rebuild.
After a turbulent 2024/25 campaign, Manchester United will be looking to improve their squad in the summer.
Ruben Amorim was appointed United head coach midway through the season before welcoming two new additions in January. The Red Devils completed deals for Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu to bolster the team’s defensive department.
However, with United under pressure to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) and Financial Fair Play (FFP).
One way to ease the financial problems at Old Trafford is by winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League.
Amorim has a few games remaining before the season ends. He will then decide on which players he wants to move on, with four players coming to the end of their contracts.
United will hope to get rid of more players in the summer, with Antony and Marcus Rashford both sent on loan in January in an attempt to get a better transfer fee for their signatures.
They won’t be the only players to be transfer-listed by United this summer.

Manchester United set Rasmus Hojlund asking price
Ahead of the summer transfer window, United are preparing their list of targets.
Wolves striker Matheus Cunha has been the subject of talks with Manchester United, while Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap remains a target.
It is understood that Wolves are willing to accept payment in instalments for Cunha, so long as they meet his release clause worth £62.5m.
According to The Guardian, United will try to generate funds by selling players like Rasmus Hojlund, who they value at £30 million.
This means United are willing to take a £34m hit on Hojlund, after paying an initial £64m for his signature in August 2023 when he signed from Serie A outfit Atalanta.
Hojlund has made 45 appearances for United this season, scoring just eight goals and registering four assists.
| Games | Goals | Assists |
| 88 | 24 | 6 |
The report suggests that United are preparing to give up on Hojlund after two seasons, even though the 22-year-old still has a lot to prove at Old Trafford.
Hojlund receieves advice from Rio Ferdinand
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has advised struggling striker Rasmus Hojlund to become more demanding towards his teammates.
Hojlund ensured another goalless display against Wolves on Sunday, but missed a glorious chance when Alejandro Garnacho squared a ball across the box in the first half.
Ferdinand, who won six Premier League titles and the Champions League at United, has told Hojlund to simplify his game.
Speaking on the Rio Presents podcast, the footballer turned pundit said: “He’s got to get hold of the winger and say ‘this is what I need. When you’re in these positions this is what I’d like.”
Ferdinand added: “Lets take it back. Put yourself in positions to show your best attributes. At the moment we’re seeing far too many of your weakest attributes.
“You need to free yourself up from any contact and start running.
“That’s the one big thing I would say to any player struggling for confidence. Strip it back, simplify and do what has got you there.”
