Manchester United are working hard to ensure their players will be kept cool on tour this summer.

Ruben Amorim and his Manchester United first-team squad are preparing to take on West Ham in the first game of their Summer Series campaign at the MetLife Stadium.

West Ham star player Jarrod Bowen is ‘excited’ to face United at such an iconic stadium, but the players have been tested in hot conditions in recent days.

Ineos will hope that they’ve given Amorim’s side the best conditions possible to prepare for the new season because big improvements are expected after finishing 15th in the Premier League last term.

United got their pre-season underway over two weeks ago when the players initially grouped again. The first friendly match took place last weekend as United drew 0-0 with Leeds in Stockholm.

With four pre-season games left to play until the competitive campaign begins, the hard work starts now.

Man Utd trial new high-tech jacket on tour

Before flying to New Jersey for the match, United trained at the Soccer Field, the home of the Chicago Bears.

The conditions are expected to be hot over the tour, so the United players were instructed on how to wear a game-changing high-tech jacket.

According to BBC Sport, kit manufacturers Adidas feel these cooling jackets will be in widespread use at next summer’s World Cup, so it’s a chance for the players to experience them early.

Lead physical performance coach Charlie Owen and head of physical performance Ed Leng wore the jackets and explained the benefits to United’s players at the start of the training session.

Extreme weather was a significant factor at the recent Club World Cup in the United States, so it makes sense that United are taking all the measures necessary to ensure the players are kept safe.

United players will wear the cooling jackets after the warm-up and at half-time in all three games during the Premier League Summer Series.

Cooling jackets trialed in F1

Ahead of the start of the 2025 season, Adidas released an insulated jacket with a cooling vest, which was made available to the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team.

The wearable-tech devices are optional for drivers to wear on the track, depending on the conditions, whether it is required or not.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has his involvement with the Mercedes team, so it makes sense that Ineos are using their clever ideas across multiple companies.
