Man Utd star reminds pundit of Ryan Giggs and Andrei Kanchelskis, he has qualities the club was built on

Manchester United have plenty of reason to be optimistic after a solid showing in the Community Shield.

Alejandro Garnacho was the Manchester United star who shone brightest in the Community Shield against City.

Garnacho, 20, netted United’s goal which looked destined to lead to another Wembley trophy before a late City equaliser and narrow penalty shootout defeat.

It was an effective showing from the Argentine, who missed the pre-season tour due to his involvement at the Copa America.

Alejandro Garnacho praised

Alejandro Garnacho scored 10 goals for Manchester United last season and he will be determined to exceed this total in 2024/25.

His goalscoring is just part of his game which makes him so effective in this Manchester United system.

Garnacho’s pace and willingness to take players on makes him a nightmare to defend against, and an extremely useful outlet for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Former footballer and pundit Tony Cascarino is impressed, comparing Garnacho to former Manchester United greats.

He told TalkSport: “On Garnacho, he is the most Man United player they have got in their squad.

“You know like of the qualities of Kanchelskis and Giggs, that ability to run from wide positions and run at defenders.

“He is a Man United absolute to the style of what the club was built on, even going back to Steve Coppell and Gordon Hill, years gone by, the greats that they had. He really has got that ability to run at defenders and scare them.”

Garnacho plays with a swagger

Alejandro Garnacho’s ability on the pitch is matched by the swagger he plays with, the way he conducts himself. He is an entertainer, often described as electric.

The Spanish press last year compared Garnacho to Eric Cantona, praising his ‘indomitable character’.

These comparisons to club legends are part of the journey for Garnacho, who idolises Cristiano Ronaldo.

Garnacho is busy carving out his own path, and enjoying his own success. He played a key role in the FA Cup win last season, and hopefully many more trophies are to come.
