Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has praised Jude Bellingham after his heroics for Real Madrid against Barcelona on Saturday.

This is a weekend of big derbies.

Manchester United will take centre stage this afternoon, hosting Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Barcelona and Real Madrid had the top billing on Saturday though as they locked horns in La Liga.

This one seemed to be going Barcelona’s way when Ilkay Gundogan scored a first-half opener.

Jude Bellingham ultimately had other ideas though.

Harry Maguire sends message to Jude Bellingham

Bellingham smashed home a long-range equaliser before snatching a dramatic last-gasp winner to continue his stunning start with Real.

The England star has now racked up a ridiculous record of 13 goals in 13 games, but few as massive as the winner against Barcelona.

Bellingham is quickly becoming Real’s latest ‘Galactico’ and he has received praise from a United player in Harry Maguire.

Maguire and Bellingham have come to know each other well in the England national team setup and will be primed to feature together at Euro 2024.

Bellingham took to Instagram to celebrate his goal, simply stating ‘This is Real Madrid’ as players flocked to praise him.

Maguire was one of them, stating ‘what a player’ alongside a fire emoji, a sentiment many United fans would share – but with some pain.

Manchester United missing out on Bellingham feels worse and worse

In another world, Bellingham would be doing all of this goalscoring magic in a Manchester United shirt.

Bellingham visited United’s training ground back in 2020 with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pushing to sign him.

16 at the time and showing huge potential with Birmingham City, Bellingham heard what United had to stay – and then picked a move to Borussia Dortmund instead.

That move put Bellingham on this path to stardom and, when he moved to Real over the summer, he was out of United’s reach.

It just wasn’t to be for United, who must simply watch Bellingham become a superstar from afar.
