Manchester United’s entire season now hinges on the Europa League final against Tottenham later this month.

Lifting the Europa League after the tumultuous campaign experienced by Manchester United would be the best conclusion possible and an excellent platform from which to build on next season.

It will be an incredible night in Bilbao if Ruben Amorim can mastermind a win over Ange Postecoglou, with United losing both meetings between the managers this season.

Winning the trophy would be excellent, but Amorim will know that it won’t be enough to save the season after a cup win last season fooled fans, so he must know it is only the beginning. On the other hand, if Spurs win they might make aN Erik ten Hag-like mistake, of keeping their failing manager due to a cup win.

Speaking after reaching the final, Amorim admitted winning the Europa League would be huge, with it being a place he can build from and use to inspire future successes.

When the final arrives, Amorim will hope to have an almost full-strength team, and now one player has admitted he is fighting to make a comeback.

Joshua Zirkzee breaks his silence over injury and Manchester United return

As the season draws to a close, United’s injury list has been shrinking with long-term absentees Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Amad Diallo all returning to action over the past few weeks to great effect.

Mount was sensational with his two-goal cameo against Athletic Club, while Amad has been at his sparkling best ever since making his comeback with a goal and an assist in three substitute appearances.

Amorim will hope for more returnees ahead of the final, and now Joshua Zirkzee has revealed he is fighting to return in time to feature.

On an Alphonso Davies live stream, the Bayern Munich defender told Zirkzee he needed to get himself back for the final, to which United’s Dutch forward responded with a positive update as quoted by Sam C.

“I’m trying to be back for the final. We’ll see what’s possible, but it’s going to be difficult.”

Zirkzee was injured against Newcastle, with the blow assumed to be a season-ending blow for the No.11, but it now seems he could be in a race against time to make his comeback for United in the final.

Manchester United’s latest injury news ahead of Europa League final

On Thursday, after the 4-1 win against Bilbao, United’s injured contingent, including Zirkzee, were spotted on the pitch celebrating with their teammates.

This showcased the quality still missing from Amorim’s side, with Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez, other players who remain injured.

There is a chance that they could return, however, excluding Martinez, who is out for months yet, but it was encouraging to see him walking about the pitch unaided.
