Man Utd sign Kit Margetson from Swansea, what to expect from the club’s fifth summer signing

Manchester United have completed their fifth signing of the summer window in Kit Margetson from Swansea.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper joins the team after Man Utd had scouted him extensively over the last season.

Kit Margetson played for Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Welsh League on loan last season, making 34 appearances and keeping 10 clean sheets.

He is expected to join up with the U21s ranks to start the season, but Man Utd’s official website describes him as an ‘exciting young goalkeeper’.

How much is Senne Lammens worth now?

Man Utd got a real bargain… how much of a bargain?

What to expect from Kit Margetson?

Margetson, unlike Karl Darlow, is an academy signing, even if Altay Bayindir leaves the club, as is expected.

Karl Darlow will replace Bayindir as the Senne Lammens backup, while Dermot Mee stays on as the third-choice goalkeeper.

Margetson will likely slot into the U21s setup, with the likes of Elyh Harrison departing again, while Radek Vitek looks set for a permanent move.

Margetson is a find by the same scout, Tony Coton, who identified Lammens, so the expectations from him will be high.

Expect him to stay at Carrington for at least the first half of the season, before United make a decision on his future in January.

A loan move could happen then, depending upon internal promotions from the U18s setup.
