Man Utd receive Leny Yoro update as Maguire returns to training while Cunha is absent

Manchester United’s squad for the Brentford game is starting to take shape and three players’ stories are at the forefront of it.

The first is Leny Yoro, who missed the Chelsea game after sustaining an injury which Michael Carrick called ‘minor’ before the game.

The second is Harry Maguire, who is set to return to action after serving his extended suspension against Chelsea.

The final one is Matheus Cunha, who missed the latest Man Utd training after the club hoped he’d be fit for the visit of Brentford.

Man Utd training latest

The training update from Carrington is mixed, with two pieces of good news in addition to a bad one.

Maguire returned to training as expected and is expected to play a part against Brentford, while Cunha’s absence is down to it being a recovery day.

That means the Brazilian is likely to be fit for Brentford’s visit, which is a huge boost to Carrick’s prospects in a tricky game.

However, as per Man Utd’s official website, Yoro missed the training session as he continues to recover from the injury that forced him to miss the Chelsea game.

United play on Monday night (again), so Yoro could return by then and play a part against Brentford, but the early signs are not looking good.

United have historically been careful with Yoro after his injury history, so they won’t risk him if he’s at anything less than a 100%.

Man Utd can handle Leny Yoro’s absence

United can afford to be patient with Yoro because the bigger news is the return of Harry Maguire.

How good was Ayden Heaven against Chelsea?! What a performance!

Ayden Heaven put in a brilliant performance against Chelsea, so dropping him would have been unfair, so he can start alongside Maguire.

Maguire was going to return to the first XI anyway due to Brentford’s aerial threat, so if there was ever a time to be careful with Yoro, it was this game.

Having said that, the club do need to monitor him carefully to ensure this doesn’t keep happening, because Yoro is their expensive long-term bet.
