Man Utd midfield duo return to training ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Manchester United face Nottingham Forest in their final home game of the season on Sunday, and two players are back in training after missing the previous match.

After clinching Champions League qualification, Manchester United have yet to seal third place in the Premier League.

That would help document United’s improvement under Michael Carrick since January, when hopes of Champions League football were remote at best.

United struggled in midfield without Casemiro for the scoreless draw at Sunderland. Carrick was also without Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte, with both midfielders sustaining injury setbacks in training ahead of the trip to the Stadium of Light.

What is your message to Casemiro ahead of his final home game at Old Trafford?

Do you think it will be a scoring farewell for Casemiro?

Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte in contention for Brentford clash

One of the biggest factors going into the final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest on Sunday is that it will be Casemiro’s final appearance at Old Trafford as a United player.

Casemiro announced he would be leaving United in January, meaning he has two games left to play before his contract expires.

United fans will be preparing to bid Casemiro farewell at the game, after spending recent months singing songs asking the Brazilian veteran to stay for another year.

Carrick gave an update on Casemiro’s injury after United’s 0-0 draw against Sunderland and hinted that he would be fine to face Brentford.

Now, ManUtd.com has confirmed that Casemiro joined United’s first team for training on Thursday as they prepare for the next match.

The report highlights that Ugarte also returned to training.

Ugarte has been linked with a move away from United this summer, so it may also be his final opportunity to represent the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount started in midfield for United against Sunderland.

Casemiro to face Man Utd-linked Anderson

Elliot Anderson has been linked with a move to United throughout the season.

With Man City interested, it remains to be seen what decision Anderson will make in the summer, but we’ll get a chance to see him in action against Casemiro and Mainoo this weekend.

That almost makes it an audition of sorts for Anderson.

Anderson has proven himself worthy of United links this season, but a decision over his future is not expected until the season ends.
