Manchester United have certainly splashed the cash over the years.
The Red Devils have a knack for spending big to try and bring some star-studded names to Old Trafford.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all players that spring to mind when thinking about hefty signings… and they have one common theme, they haven’t really worked out.
What’s almost laughable, is the fact that all of these players have depreciated so much since Manchester United signed them (and sold them), but it’s a player who didn’t cost a penny who is by far the most expensive player still at the club.

Marcus Rashford still worth millions
Marcus Rashford is still far and away Manchester United’s most valuable asset.
According to CIES Football Observatory, published on 04/01/2024, Rashford is now worth a whopping €136.2M (£117.5m).
This puts him higher than some of the world’s biggest superstars and up-and-coming talent – including:
- Eduardo Camavinga – Real Madrid: €132.7M
- Pedri Gonzalez – Barcelona: €125.2M
- Enzo Fernandez – Chelsea: €123.6M
- Rodri – Manchester City: €121.8M
- Florian Wirtz – Bayer Leverkusen: €117.0M
- Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – Napoli: €115.3M
- Rafael Leao – AC Milan: €114.2
Considering United didn’t pay a penny – with Rashford coming through the academy, this is very impressive.
Naturally after Rashford’s chart-topping season as top goalscorer last season for United – he was going to be worth a pretty penny. However, after this campaign, shockingly, it hasn’t dropped.
Marcus Rashford’s season hasn’t affected cost… yet
Despite his 30-goal haul last season, Rashford has just three goals to his name this year.
He also has just two assists. For 19 games, this simply isn’t good enough for a Manchester United forward.
A goal in the 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest may suggest the tides are changing. If not – then expect to see this value plummet the next time they release the rankings.
