David Beckham has revealed to former Manchester United and England teammate Rio Ferdinand how one moment left him with an “impossible” task on his hands.
The 49-year-old Manchester United legend is currently co-owner and president of Inter Miami and found incredible success after his legendary playing career.
David Beckham retired from football in 2013 after a brief spell with Paris Saint-Germain, with the former United star enjoying a remarkable football career.
The former England captain first burst onto the scene at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson during the 1990s after emerging through the youth academy.
One of the revered ‘Class of ‘92’ members, Beckham created a long-lasting legacy at the Premier League club as one of United’s legendary No 7s.
The former United winger lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups with the Red Devils under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Beckham makes admission to Ferdinand
David Beckham’s spell at Old Trafford ended in 2003 amid a rift with Sir Alex Ferguson and the Manchester United legend went on to sign for Real Madrid.
He lifted a La Liga title before he completed his move to LA Galaxy in 2007, with Beckham spending two loan spells at AC Milan during his time at the MLS outfit.
Beckham was reunited with Rio Ferdinand on his former United and England teammate’s YouTube channel and opened up about his life on the pitch and off it.
During the sitdown chat, the former England international touched on Romeo Beckham and his son’s club allegiance to United’s rivals Arsenal.
“He was really young and we were in London one Friday and he was like, ‘Dad, let’s go to a game this weekend,’” Beckham said.
“So, I started to look at the fixtures and I was like, ‘Uh, Arsenal are at home.’ So, I thought, do you know what, they’re always really nice to me when I go down to watch United and Arsenal, and I thought okay, they’ll look after us, there won’t be any hassle getting in.”
Beckham’s ‘impossible’ task with Romeo
Romeo Beckham was part of the Arsenal youth set-up and later played for his father’s Inter Miami side at youth level and their reserve team.
The 22-year-old was loaned out to Brentford’s reserve team and signed for the club in 2023, but it was reported only last month that Beckham’s son has now retired.
Beckham told fellow United legend Ferdinand that it was “impossible” to turn Romeo away from his Arsenal allegiance after Arsene Wenger became involved.
“No hassle, sat there. So, we walked in, amazing seats. Sat in the director’s box,” he continued.
“Lunch was unbelievable before the game – it was like wagyu, full on, everything.
“So, we walk in, I’m sat there and then Arsene walks in the room and he comes straight over to the table, introduces himself to Romeo, and he says, ‘Come with me, son.’
“So, he takes him down to the changing room, meets all the players, gives him a shirt, signed, takes him onto the pitch, walks him back up to the table and then gives him an Arsenal cashmere scarf, and that was it.
“It was done. I’ve tried to change his mind since but impossible.”
