Man Utd legend David Beckham makes major prediction for Red Devils after ‘painful’ admission, he is fully convinced

Manchester United and England legend David Beckham is adamant that he expects to see one thing from the Red Devils in the future after his “painful” admission.

David Beckham had incredible success at Old Trafford after he broke into the Manchester United first team in the 1990s under Sir Alex Ferguson.

One of the famed ‘Class of ‘92’ members, the 49-year-old United legend shot to superstardom after rising through the ranks of the Red Devils’ youth academy.

During his time at Old Trafford, Beckham lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and an FA Cup under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former United superstar’s legendary spell at Old Trafford came to an end in 2003 after his blockbuster move to Real Madrid amid a rift with Ferguson.

Beckham talks Man Utd ‘pain’

David Beckham was an integral part of the Manchester United team that lifted an iconic treble in 1999 under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The England and United legend had his fair share of experience with the Champions League, including crossing paths with France icon Zinedine Zidane on the pitch.

Beckham, who called it time on his prolific playing career in 2013, made a surprise appearance on the CBS Sports panel for the Champions League coverage.

Joining Kate Scott, Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards, Beckham walked into the studio and took his place on the panel for CBS Sports.

The former Real Madrid and United star admitted that it was “painful” for him not to see his boyhood club among the teams in the Champions League.

However, Beckham is convinced that United are “too big” not to be in the Champions League and has backed the Red Devils to return to the competition.

“It is a little bit painful not seeing United there, but they’re going through something,” he said, as per the Metro.

“We’re too big to not to be back on this stage. So, at some point, we have to be.”

No Champions League for Man Utd this season

Erik ten Hag successfully secured United’s return to the Champions League in his debut season at Old Trafford after the Red Devils finished third in the league.

However, the 54-year-old United boss oversaw a disastrous Champions League campaign with the Red Devils during the 2023-24 season.

The Red Devils crashed out of the Champions League after finishing bottom of Group A, with United finishing bottom with only one win.

United missed out on a return to the Champions League for the current campaign after their lacklustre eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season.

However, Erik ten Hag’s men secured a place in the Europa League for the current campaign after beating Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
