It was an embarrassing afternoon for Manchester United in a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth in a game where they made history.
Erik ten Hag cut a lonely figure on the touchline on a wet afternoon at Old Trafford as he watched his side slump to a horrendous 3-0 loss at the hands of Bournemouth.
It was a night and day display in comparison with what we saw against Chelsea on Wednesday. The 2-1 win midweek left fans believing that a corner had been turned by Manchester United.
However by 5 pm on Wednesday it had become evident this wasn’t the case as Bournemouth picked up a dominant win, and made history in the process.

Bournemouth make history against Manchester United
Bournemouth’s win against United on Saturday was their first win away from home against United in their history according to The Athletic on Instagram.
The Cherries were the odd ones out before this win, as they were the only current Premier League side to not achieve this feat.
Bournemouth made history in doing so, with Everton the side to first achieve it, beating the 1878-founded United on October 19th 1892.
Aston Villa, Luton Town, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United all managed to win away at United before the 1900s rolled in.
The only side Bournemouth can compare themselves to in this case is Brighton who only managed the feat in 2022 – 52 years on from Crystal Palace who are the side third most recent currently in the league.
This bodes particularly bad for Erik ten Hag
From recent memory, when a manager at Old Trafford begins to break unwanted records, it is a sign that times are hard.
However, for Ten Hag, times are only going to get harder with Bayern Munich visiting in the Champions League for a game which United must win to stand a chance at progressing.
After this, the most concerning fixture awaits, a return to the scene of last season’s 7-0 massacre at Anfield. Bournemouth with all due respect should’ve been a winnable game, but instead, they were allowed to run rampant.
United allowed Bournemouth to join the other 18 clubs in having won at the Red Devils place and that could be a fateful result.
