Manchester United fans couldn’t hold back their true feelings after the Red Devils staged a dramatic approach for Benjamin Sesko amid Newcastle’s fierce interest.
Benjamin Sesko had been linked with Arsenal this summer, but the Gunners’ pursuit for the RB Leipzig ace ended with their signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
However, the 22-year-old Slovenian striker was subject to intense transfer interest from Manchester United and Newcastle after Arsenal finally pulled out of the race.
Newcastle appeared to climb ahead of United in their pursuit to land RB Leipzig striker Sesko after the Magpies tabled an initial offer of €75m and €5m in add-ons.
But RB Leipzig rejected the bid from the Premier League club and Newcastle returned to the table with an improved bid of at least €80m for United-linked Sesko.
United now appear in contention to beat Newcastle to the signing of the Slovenia international after the Red Devils tabled their first bid for the attacking talent.

What are Man Utd fans saying about the Red Devils’ bid to hijack Newcastle’s transfer of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko?
David Ornstein reported for The Athletic that Manchester United have put up an opening offer of €75m and a further €10m in add-ons for Benjamin Sesko.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, are convinced that the club would not have made an approach had they not had assurances about the transfer.
One United fan said: “I’m a very patient man. This falls within the valuation for when a special club comes through. It is below what Newcastle sent across last night, too. If Sesko makes a decision and picks United as the club he favours, they’d have to accept this.”
Another suggested: “The offer from Manchester United for Sesko changes everything. Note: Newcastle offered +€90m and Man United went with €85m. Looks like Sesko has chosen United, and [United] has used that to send a lower offer. My take? 50 [per cent] chance. Depending on RB’s answer.”
Someone else posted: “This has been placed in consultation with all parties involved on the player’s side. Leipzig is the barrier now. I want to believe United have done their due diligence before placing this bid. It’s now between Sesko and Leipzig, not United and Newcastle.”
“You’d imagine with that Sesko bid that United have everything squared off with the agent and player now,” a fourth Red Devils supporter claimed.
Someone else added: “Looking like Sesko said ‘yes’ to United, not Newcastle United.”
While a sixth tweeted: “Judging by the way Manchester United approached this deal from day one, I think Sesko has chosen us. That’s why we sent a bid in. Huge one if we get this over the line. It’s still a risk, but let’s see if this risk pays off because Sesko’s talent is really special.”
A seventh X user wrote: “United are convinced [that] Sesko has chosen us.”
“HIGHLY doubt that United would entertain a move for Sesko without positive reciprocity from the player,” another commented.

United made their first approach for Sesko on Tuesday and the Red Devils have been keen to bring a new striking option to Old Trafford ahead of the new season.
