Last week Casemiro formally announced his intention to leave Manchester United at the end of the 2025/26 season when his contract expires. The decision was not unexpected, but the timing was certainly early.
The Brazil international captain is now in his fourth season at the club, and it is shaping up to be the best since his first.
Ahead of his 34th birthday next month, Casemiro is still an integral part of the Manchester United team.

Several comments came in after Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Arsenal, expressing regret over his impending exit as a free agent.
One fan wrote: “Keep him for another season or two.”
Another fan added: “I’d love to see him stay for 1 more season!! He’s a class act. One of my all time favourites!!!! Best of luck to him.”

Casemiro exit leaves gap to fill
Casemiro’s early exit announcement provides Manchester United with plenty of notice to plan to sign a top class replacement for next season.
Logically it is the right time for Casemiro to leave at the end of the season, even though his excellent current form makes it tougher.
