Manchester United no doubt has had several transfer regrets over the past few years, however this could be the biggest.

Back in January 2020, there was a blossoming 16-year-old gem in the Championship at Birmingham City named Jude Bellingham.

The midfielder was doing unprecedented things in the midfield for the Second City side which led to the European elite clamouring to sign him.

Ultimately he opted to join Borussia Dortmund however, it was reported that Manchester United were ready to offer £20m for Bellingham which in hindsight would’ve been a real bargain.

Now, the true extent of the bargain has been revealed as his current market value shows.

Former Manchester United target Jude Bellingham is now worth £230m

Bellingham has been incredible since joining Real Madrid last summer for £88.5m and has earned the label of ‘stupendous‘, from Carlo Ancelotti.

Now his immense form has seen his value skyrocket as CIES released their updated market value totals.

With a value of £230m, Bellingham is now the worlds most valuable player, overcoming Erling Haaland who is worth slightly less at £216.5m.

This value will undoubtedly leave United ruing the fact they missed out on him in 2020.

How good has Bellingham been this season for Real Madrid?

For Real Madrid in 2023/24, Bellingham has lived up to his massive value through his really impressive goal and assist contributions.

In La Liga he has played 17 games while scoring 13 goals and assisting two, while the Champions League has been equally impressive with four goals and three assists in five games.

This takes his tally in full to 22 games and 22 goal contributions (17 G, 5 A) which is remarkable and would be for any player at this stage in the season, let alone a 20-year-old in his first season in Spain and playing in midfield.

FotMob have him as averaging an 8.22 match rating this campaign which again is seriously impressive. So with all this in mind it’s easy to see why he’s the world’s most valuable player.
