Any fears of Ethan Ennis’ contract expiring at the end of the season have been put to rest, with Manchester United activating a clause that will see the young winger remain at the club.

Among the top academy performers are Jacob Devaney at St Mirren and Ethan Ennis at Fleetwood Town.
The Red Devils also used loan deals to try to sell players at a later date. That includes Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford, but players like Ennis will remain hopeful of making the grade at Old Trafford.

Man Utd trigger option to extend Ethan Ennis’ contract
It’s coming to that stage of the season where United need to make decisions over what players to keep and who should be moved on.
Kobbie Mainoo signed a new deal this week that will keep him at United for another five years.
The Manchester Evening News now claims that United have activated their option to extend Ennis’ contract by 12 months.
Ennis’ contract was set to expire at the end of the season, but United have opted to keep the 21-year-old winger following an impressive stint at Fleetwood Town in League Two.
However, Ennis has played as a wing-back for Fleetwood this season.
The report adds that new contract discussions will take place with Ennis this summer, and the youngster will have options on the table, with Championship clubs interested in his signature.
United could tie Ennis up to a new deal and try to secure him another loan move next summer, but this time in the Championship. It would be a big step up from League Two.
Ennis previously signed a deal with United in the summer of 2024 before representing the first team in pre-season games against Rosenborg and Rangers.

That includes six goals and eight assists for the League Two side.
At 21, Ennis must decide whether he wants to remain at United by signing a new contract this summer or move on elsewhere.
