FC Copenhagen are set to be without one of their key men ahead of tonight’s crucial Champions League clash against Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United need a win to kickstart their Champions League campaign after losing their opening two games.

Well, it seems the Dutchman will receive some good news with Andreas Cornelius reportedly set to miss the game at Old Trafford.

United are reportedly set to welcome back some of their own injured players and the return of these players will be crucial for their chances of winning the game at Old Trafford.

Cornelius out

According to Fotball Skanalen, a Danish outlet, Cornelius will not be risked in the game at Old Trafford due to the injuries he has suffered.

The former Cardiff City striker has had a good impact on the Danish side when he has played and provided the game-winning assist in his most recent game after returning from injury.

However, the Danish outlet carries quotes from the FC Copenhagen manager and he has explained the decision to leave out the striker.

“Andreas Cornelius will not travel to Manchester, but it has been planned for a long time and he is not injured,” coach Jacob Neestrup commented.

“We believe it is necessary to exclude him from this match to ensure that his comeback is as good as possible.”

United’s need for victory

It goes without saying that the Red Devils, by any means possible, have to win at Old Trafford tonight otherwise, Erik ten Hag risks a mutiny.

With Copenhagen set to be without one of their best players, and United set to see two of their players return, a win should be achievable.

For United to have the best chance of qualifying from the group, they need Bayern Munich to beat Galatasaray and then the Red Devils will have to get a result in Turkey, which sounds like a tough task.

Tonight’s game is a monumental one for United’s hopes of knockout Champions League football in February.
