Man United star opens up on ‘indescribable feeling’ of making his debut for the club

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has opened up about his feelings after making his debut for the club in the FA Cup.

Since moving to Manchester United in the summer from Fenerbahce for around £4 million, Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir had been frustrated whilst sitting on the bench as he had yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils in any competition up until the FA Cup match.

Andre Onana was Erik ten Hag’s first choice for that position and this meant that the 25-year-old had to sit on the sidelines and wait for his chance in the first team.

When the Cameroon international joined up with his international teammates for the Africa Cup Of Nations, Bayindir finally had his chance to impress against Newport County in the FA Cup.

Bayindir on debut

Well, the Turkish international goalkeeper has spoken out for the first time since making his debut for the Red Devils against the Welsh side.

“It was truly an indescribable feeling for me,” he told Turkish outlet DHA. “Being a football player and seeing our flag flying at Old Trafford is too indescribable to be described in words. I don’t know how this can be explained, but I can say it in one word, ‘pride’.

“I am very happy and proud to play my first match with this jersey. I was very excited from the first moment I warmed up. Playing the first match is always an unforgettable memory.”

With Onana returning from international duty, however, you wonder if the Turkish international has played his last game for the Red Devils this season, although another appearance in the fifth round of the FA Cup would be a nice reward for the 25-year-old.

Bayindir and Onana

United and Ten Hag seemingly have two goalkeepers they can rely on despite the struggles of Onana this season, who has made costly errors in the Champions League.

For Bayindir, the future is surely now unclear with the Turkish international, who has reportedly impressed staff in training, not playing enough.

With Turkey qualifying for this summer’s European Championship, Bayindir will be hoping he can receive more game time for the Red Devils so he has a better chance of starting these games.
