Erik ten Hag has been under a fair amount of pressure since the beginning of the new season as Manchester United have struggled to put together a consistent run of form.

The Red Devils, however, have won back-to-back games for the first time this season and the pressure has somewhat eased on the 53-year-old former Ajax boss.

And now, according to outlet 90min, Manchester United are ready to offer the Dutchman, who signed a three-year contract when he joined the club in the summer of 2022, a new and improved deal.

According to the report, the club are firmly behind Ten Hag and the Glazer family believes in his rebuild and are willing to back the United boss even further.

Ten Hag backed despite off-field issues

It’s fair to say the Dutch manager has had to deal with his fair share of issues this season. Whether it’s the Antony situation, the Mason Greenwood situation, or the recent ongoing feud with Jadon Sancho – there’s been a lot of malaise off the field.

Due to the takeover situation, which has yet to be resolved, there were some concerns this would affect contract negotiations but that is not the case, according to the report.

Those in power are firmly behind Ten Hag over certain decisions that have been made at the club and the decision to exile Sancho, despite the wages and transfer fee spent on the 23-year-old in 2021, is one the club backs.

Are United right to offer Ten Hag a new contract

The hierarchy at the club always planned on making a contract proposal after 18 months and they intend to follow through with this, despite the uncertainty around the club.

The club certainly seems to be moving in the right direction, despite the struggles at the start of this season and there are certainly reasons to be excited for the season ahead.

The crop of young players coming through need a manager like Ten Hag, who has vast experience developing young players at Ajax. So a new contract is the logical progression of his time in Manchester.
