Man United set for another clearout next summer, as many as 10 could exit

Manchester United are reported to be eyeing yet another clear out of their fringe players next summer, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag looks to be keen on completing yet another rebuild next summer and this will mean selling players to raise funds and freeing up wages.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos are set to complete their takeover of the club within the next week and they will be looking at reshaping the squad, among their priorities on their to-do list.

A poor start to the season has further underlined the need for a shake-up.

United’s clearout

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, the Dutchman would like to move on as many as ten first-team players next summer.

Fourteen players who had played for the first team left permanently last summer as United began to get rid of the players who weren’t getting their chances in the first team.

Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans will see their contracts at the club expire next summer, although with the impact the Northern Irish defender has made on Ten Hag, an extension to his current contract can’t be ruled out.

There are also a few players out on loan who could be moved on permanently if they continue to impress, Alvaro Fernandez and Brandon Williams are the pair who have performed the best. The club could cash in on Mason Greenwood.

According to the report, the Red Devils will be targeting a new defender as well as a new midfielder next summer so a few players in the engine room could be moved on.

United’s permanent departures

It is safe to say that Jadon Sancho will probably be the first player on his way out of the club after his public fallout with Ten Hag.

The other players who may leave permanently are the likes of Donny Van de Beek, Anthony Martial, Casemiro, and, surprisingly, Raphael Varane, who looks to be open to a move away from the club.

A clearout of the fringe players has been needed for a while and if the club can move on some of their high-earners, they may have room for maneuverability next summer.
