Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is set to start for Brazil in their game against Uruguay despite the 31-year-old suffering from an injury.
Casemiro seemingly suffered an ankle sprain during his side’s 1-1 draw against Venezuela and was substituted towards the closing moments of that game.
Well, according to Brazilian outlet Globo.com, the Manchester United midfielder is set to start and captain the side in a move that would no doubt concern Erik ten Hag.
The injury Casemiro suffered was reportedly so bad that his ankle had swollen to the point where he had to see a physiotherapist but it seems that injury has healed and the midfielder is seemingly set to start the game.

Casemiro’s injury risk
To start the game for the South American side after his ankle had been swollen to the point where he couldn’t play anymore is certainly a fast recovery time.
The question that will be posed if he does play is whether he is having pain-killing injections to play for his national team. If that is the case, United should be deeply concerned.
The Brazilian midfielder played 51 games for Ten Hag’s side last season which is the most he has ever featured in during a single season in his career.
The only time the midfielder had a rest was when he was sent off during the games against Crystal Palace (twice) and Southampton, other than that when he was fit, he played.
United’s injury concerns
United currently have had well over 10 injured first-team players this season and playing a player who is out of form and quite clearly needs a rest is surely another long-term injury waiting to happen.
The Red Devils have form for playing players through injury. Lisandro Martinez is the obvious most recent example of this, his foot injury has led to him needing surgery on the issue.
Despite the former Real Madrid midfielder’s poor performances, United picking up another injury to one of last season’s key players would be a disaster.
