Andre Onana is ‘hopeful’ of being fit for Manchester United’s game against Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana suffered a pelvic injury during Cameroon’s 3-0 win over Mauritius in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
The injury to the goalkeeper would have been yet another headache for Erik ten Hag to contend with, as the number of absentees from the United squad approaches 10 first-team players.
However, there is hope that the former Inter Milan goalkeeper will be fit for the Red Devils’ crucial match against Sean Dyche’s Everton side.

Onana ‘hope’
According to a report from ESPN, the 27-year-old goalkeeper is hopeful he will be able to feature in what is a crucial match for the Red Devils’ chances of breaking back into the top four of the Premier League.
Onana returned to the UK on Sunday night after withdrawing from the Cameroon squad. The former Ajax goalkeeper had to be replaced during the international encounter and things didn’t look good for the 27-year-old.
The goalkeeper will undergo medical tests with United staff this week before a decision is made about whether he is available to face Everton.
The injury itself, according to the report, is not thought to be a serious one as it isn’t a muscle strain, which would have meant he would have been out for longer if this were the case.
Bayindir may have to wait
After Altay Bayindir put in a promising performance for Turkey against Germany, which led to Alejandro Garnacho praising the goalkeeper, perhaps starting the 25-year-old at Goodison Park wouldn’t have been such a risk.
However, if Onana is passed fit then he will start the game but it looks like, once again, that the Red Devils have not learned from their previous errors.
Rushing back Lisandro Martinez from his injury has led to the Argentine being out of action for months, perhaps resting Onana for this game and avoiding a repeat of previous errors, wouldn’t be the worst decision to make.
