Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka over extending his contract at the club following a resurgent few months at Old Trafford.

The defender looked to be on his way out of Old Trafford at the beginning of last season, this was due to the good performances put in by Diogo Dalot at the start of the season.

However, after a mid-season renaissance, the defender is now in talks with the club about extending his contract according to the Daily Mail.

The Englishman’s current deal expires next summer but United do have the option to extend the defender’s contract by a further 12 months, which they will surely activate.

Wan Bissaka’s wage increase

According to the report, United are eager to reward the defender for his outstanding performances over the last few months with a wage increase expected.

Wan-Bissaka is currently earning £100,000 a week at Old Trafford and that new contract, which is reportedly in the works, would see his wage package increase according to the same report.

The English defender was seemingly available for transfer during Erik ten Hag’s first summer transfer window with Crystal Palace, Wan-Bissaka’s former club, interested in the defender but he chose to stay and fight for his place.

Wan Bissaka’s resurgence

The Englishman looked to be out in the cold with Dalot seemingly nailed down as the first choice option for Ten Hag.

During the second half of the season, Dalot was struggling with injury issues and the Englishman was given a proper chance in the team from then on, and he became Ten Hag’s first-choice option at right-back.

Wan-Bissaka assisted Raphael Varane’s winning goal in the opening day game against Wolverhampton Wanderers and the defender has started the season very well. The hope will be the defender can now kick on and add more to his game.
