Man United break unwanted 31-year record after West Ham defeat

Manchester United have broken an unwanted 31-year record following their 2-0 defeat over West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have struggled massively this season in the goalscoring department and have hit the back of the net just 18 times in 18 Premier League games.

Rasmus Hojlund has failed to net in the Premier League in 14 games and the Danish striker’s struggles have meant United have seriously struggled in converting their chances.

Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho have all struggled for consistency, and goals, in the Premier League and the pressure is beginning to ramp up on Ten Hag after their 13th loss of the campaign.

United’s unwanted record

According to a TNT Sports, United have failed to score a goal in four consecutive games, which has not been done by the Red Devils since 1992.

Following that record break back in the 1990s, the Red Devils went out and added Eric Cantona to their team which propelled them towards an unprecedented era of dominance.

However, Ten Hag may struggle to make it through to January with the loss in the capital being the club’s 13th of the season which means the Red Devils have lost exactly half of their games this season.

That record is simply not good enough and it remains a mystery how the Red Devils are still in the top half of the league despite yet another poor result.

January transfer window

Despite the club seemingly being insistent that it is set to be a quiet month with sales the main aim of the winter window, a new striker is, yet again, a must.

It was needed last year due to the sheer number of injury problems and another forward is needed again to solve the goalscoring problem that United are going through.

The harsh reality, however, is that any striker in the world stuck in this team would struggle to score goals for the Red Devils because the wingers and the midfield just do not create enough consistent chances for their striker to convert them.
