Manchester United’s loss against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground has seen the Red Devils break another record.
Nottingham Forest picked up their first victory against Manchester United in 29 years, back then it was Brian Clough who was managing the East Midlands side but this time Nuno Espirito Santo’s side got one over the Red Devils.
It was a tepid first 45 minutes and a frankly shambolic second 45 with the Red Devils crumbling under pressure and conceding a frankly ridiculous counter-attack goal to lose the game.
The pressure is building on Erik ten Hag who thankfully ended their five hours of profligacy away from home but have suffered another embarrassing defeat.
In all competitions in 2023, United have lost 21 games which is only bettered by 28 defeats in 1930, 25 defeats in 1972 and 24 in 1921.

United break record
Well, the loss in the East Midlands has seen the Red Devils lose their fifth game of December, which is a record that has not been broken since 1933.
Marcus Rashford’s goal came after a good week for the Englishman and he looks somewhat back to his best despite being moved to centre-forward but this may well be one of the very few positives of the game.
Amad Diallo came on in the second half for Antony, who was abysmal in the East Midlands, and the Ivorian looked much more confident and fluid than the former Ajax winger did.
Ten Hag’s job is surely under pressure now and the Dutchman could well be facing some questions when INEOS have their 25 per cent acquisition of United confirmed once the Premier League’s regulatory checks are completed.
Defining month for Ten Hag
As we approach January, and the winter transfer window, this could well be the defining month of the Dutchman’s reign at the club.
If the losses continue and the Red Devils struggle for consistency then the fanbase will not be patient forever when this season was meant to be a campaign of challenging.
United couldn’t be further away from challenging for the title and are currently fighting to stay in the race for Champions League football.
Things have to improve otherwise the Dutchman will join the list of dismissed managers at Old Trafford following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
