Manchester United are attempting to smooth relations between the club and UEFA due to multi club ownership rules, according to reports.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos are on the verge of completing their 25 per cent acquisition of Manchester United and are well underway with making changes at the club.
Ratcliffe and Ineos own French side OGC Nice, who are doing superbly well in Ligue 1 this season and are firmly in the race alongside PSG to win the division.
However, this could be an issue later down the line with Nice potentially being in the same European competition as United, if the Red Devils achieve qualification to the Champions League.

United’s plan
According to a report from the Daily Mail, United are keen on repairing relations with UEFA in the event that a ban is imposed due to the clubs multi-ownership model which would endanger the competition.
United, however, are confident that they will be given the green light to move forward with Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion being permitted to proceed despite their multi-club ownership structure.
One key aspect of this that could work in United’s favour is David Gill’s influence at UEFA with the former CEO of the Red Devils could well assist in influencing these relations with the organisation.
Gill spoke out recently about the club but he certainly still has an affinity to United and he could well be used to smooth relations between the two parties.
If the multi-club ownership model is approved by UEFA, this could be key for the Red Devils.
Importance of multi-club model
Manchester City have been the most important example of this method working with Girona, part of the City Football Group, near the top of La Liga.
The benefits of this model are there for all to see. If United plan on signing a lot of young and exciting players, loaning them to OGC Nice and Swiss side FC Lausanne would be massively beneficial to their development.
If this is approved, and the hope is that it will be, then United will have a superb avenue to develop their academy players.
