Manchester United are in the market for a world class number nine this summer, with both Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen linked.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has gave his preference on which number nine he wants. The retired-defender has spoken highly of Harry Kane suggesting he is the better option.

Speaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, Ferdinand said, “They can get blood, sweat, tears, goals and records out of Kane.”

He continued, “Let the guy do what he needs to do now, man. Let the guy compete for Champions Leagues and (league) championships and cup competitions.”

He concluded by insisting Kane would have no problems scoring goals at Old Trafford.

“Kane guarantees you 25 goals a season, there’s no doubt he would get that.”

Ferdinand prefers Kane to Osimhen

The other name mentioned was Napoli’s eagle, Victor Osimhen. However despite his impressive goal record in Serie A, Ferdinand isn’t sure on the Nigerian.

“He’s 24 years old, scored goals in France and Italy. Won the league (in Italy) and knows how to win leagues. He’s been a No.9 at a dominant team.

“Is that transferable to the Premier League? No one knows that. That’s the chance United would have to take on him.”

Ferdinand admitted his only concern over Osimhen is the question of his transition to the Premier League.

“That’s the only risk I see. He doesn’t know the league. Ability-wise and profile he ticks every box, but there is an unknown factor. Can he adapt?”

Both are truly world class strikers and I am sure United would reap the benefits from either, should they come.
