Casemiro bounced back from a tough start against Everton to play a crucial role in Manchester United’s win at Goodison.

After being caught in possession for the home side’s opener, Casemiro went on to provide the assist for Cristiano Ronaldo’s winning goal.

Following Antony’s equaliser, Casemiro won a tackle in midfield and slid Ronaldo in for a swiftly executed counter attack, with United’s number 7 burying the ball in the back of the net.

The goal was Ronaldo’s 700th of his club career, and his first league goal of the campaign.

Luka Modric praises Casemiro

Cristiano Ronaldo’s winner was a goal made in Real Madrid, with the connection of the two former La Liga players paying off.

Casemiro’s contribution caught the attention of his former Real teammates Luka Modric and Marcelo, who both responded to his Instagram post.

Casemiro was named as the man of the match by BT Sport for his contribution to United’s victory.

United fans selected Ronaldo as the winner in the fan poll, with Casemiro in second place.

Casemiro was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, missing a header from close range in the first half after a run into the box unmarked saw him connect well, directing his effort narrowly wide.

It is great to see the new signing beginning to settle in, and he is a certainty to start the next league game with Scott McTominay suspended.

This performance showed Casemiro adjusting in real time to the frenetic nature of the Premier League and he came through with flying colours.
