Darts sensation Luke Littler names one Manchester United legend he would pick over Sir David Beckham.

It may be the busiest time of the year for Luke Littler, defending his title as world darts champion, but he has still taken time out from his exploits at Alexandra Palace to watch Manchester United.

Littler attended his first away match recently and was spotted at Old Trafford on Monday night for United’s 4-4 draw against Bournemouth.

Littler is back in action in Sunday afternoon’s session in the second round of the World Darts Championship, after beating Darius Labanauskas 3-0 in the opening match.

Sir Alex Ferguson tops Luke Littler’s selections

At such a young age, it’s remarkable that Littler is already a world champion.

Sir Alex Ferguson is undoubtedly one of his inspirations as one of the greatest managers sport has ever seen, especially being a young United fan.

While taking part in a TikTok challenge set by BBC Sport, Littler played winner-stays-on with sporting figures.

Sir David Beckham was selected over Paul Gascoigne, but he did not get the nod over Ferguson, whom he’s had the pleasure of meeting.

Littler also picked Ferguson over himself.

Who is Manchester United’s best manager since Sir Alex Ferguson?

That shouldn’t come as a surprise when you consider everything Ferguson won during his 26 years as United manager.

Luke Littler reveals story from meeting Sir Alex Ferguson

In the TikTok video recorded by BBC Sport, Littler mentions that he has met Ferguson in the past and how that influenced his decision to pick the legendary manager over Beckham.

The PDC darts world champion paraded his trophy at Old Trafford last season when he met Ferguson.

Speaking to The United Stand at the time, Littler said (via The Mirror): “It was probably one of the best moments of my life – that will live with me forever and ever.

“It was scheduled for before kick-off but Denis Law had passed away. Luckily enough, I was sat right behind Sir Alex and there was the empty seat there, where Denis would have sat on matchday. I was chatting to Sir Alex for a little bit, which was good. It’s one of the best things I have ever done.”
