Argentina completed a treble of major tournament victories with a 1-0 win over Colombia in the Copa America final.
In the last four years, they now have four trophies (Including the Finalissima), while losing only twice, a remarkable record and one that owes a lot to their new crop of players.
Lisandro Martinez played an inspirational role in this one after being mainly a fringe player for the previous tournaments and he stepped up to the plate in remarkable fashion.
After the victory, the Argentine sent a rousing message to the nation, with Alejandro Garnacho responding in a way that sums up every United fan’s feelings in a five-word response.

Lisandro Martinez’s message, Garnacho responds
Martinez took to Instagram after reveling in his victory to send a rousing message to his country after a memorable day for Argentinian football.
Holding both Copa America trophies in his hands (2021 and 2024), he wrote (translated to English): “Two-time champions of America! Let’s go Argentina of my life. Pure history!”.
It is, indeed, pure history as only Spain have achieved what they have just achieved, which is winning three major international tournaments on the trot. Add to that Finalissima, and there’s a case to be made that this Argentina team is the most dominant one in recent history.
Garnacho put into words what every United fan would be feeling after the tournament in a five-word response as he said (translated to English): “The best in the world!”
He added, “Another my together, my dear brother”, perhaps hinting at the two trophies they’ve already won together at Manchester United- The Carabao Cup in 2022/23 and the FA Cup in 2023/24.
Just the beginning
Fans would hope that Garnacho and Martinez win many more trophies together after the Copa America, and it is for Man United. Garnacho has quickly established himself as a crucial part of the young core United are building around while Martinez looks back to his best.
With the new ownership at the club making well-informed decisions and being proactive in the market, there is a feeling that the club can finally start winning because of the structure, not despite of it.
Martinez, particularly, has re-established himself as one of the best in the world, as Garnacho puts it. He put the injury fears in the background and confirmed that the 2023/24 season was a perfect storm of nightmares instead of the norm.
If he can keep this up and Garnacho keeps growing as a player, then Garnacho’s “Another one together” might become a statement that never stops aging badly.
