Casemiro came off the bench to make his Manchester United debut in the 1-0 win at Southampton.
The Brazilian played the final 15 minutes to help United close out a hard fought away win.
This was United’s first away win since February, and the last clean sheet since the goalless draw with Watford the same month.
United had to dig in and hold off a stretch of Southampton pressure in the second half, with new signing Lisandro Martinez at the heart of it.
Martinez hails Casemiro
Casemiro sent a message out after the win hailing the victory, and he in turn was praised by Lisandro Martinez.
Martinez wrote ‘what a player’, showing admiration for his new Manchester United teammate.
Casemiro played five passed, blocked one shot, made one clearance and two ball recoveries during his short time on the pitch.
There will be plenty of matches where he will be more involved, and he has a good opportunity to start against Leicester City on Thursday.
Martinez was the real star, winning all five of his aerial duels, and he is quickly becoming a fan favourite, and is establishing himself as the new heartbeat of this team.
