Lisandro Martinez is stepping up his recovery towards a Manchester United return.

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is continuing his rehabilitation work to get back to full fitness.

The World Cup winner was pictured back at Carrington in late November and he is continuing to work towards a return.

The club explained: “Martinez was briefly seen with the group as they emerged out on to the pitches, before going off to conduct some individual work as part of his injury rehabilitation.”

Lisandro Martinez feeling upbeat

Lisandro Martinez is feeling positive, posting a message on his Instagram page on Monday night.

He wrote: “A day closer 🗓️👹💪🏼”.

There is no fixed date on Martinez’s return to action and Manchester United are not going to rush him.

Martinez suffered a foot injury against Sevilla in the Europa League last season and missed the remainder of the campaign, including the FA Cup final.

He returned for the start of this season but seemed a little off form, and re-aggravated his injury just four matches into the season.

He has undergone surgery on the injury this time around, and Manchester United will hope the issue is resolved once and for all.

However, Martinez’s physical style embraces contact and he will have to be 100 per cent until United line him up in the Premier League again. And there are no guarantees he will avoid injury, but the Red Devils must do everything possible to reduce risk.

Casemiro also back

Martinez’s teammate Casemiro is also working his way back to full fitness, being pictured at Carrington on Sunday for the first time since his injury in late October.

Having the duo back in 2024 will potentially make a huge difference. We just hope United can get through the rest of this month intact, without too much damage.
