Manchester United have welcomed Lisandro Martinez back to Carrington after Argentina’s World Cup win.

The defender made his return 10 days after Argentina clinched the trophy in a penalty shootout against France.

Martinez is the last player to return to Manchester United after the conclusion of the World Cup. He played 301 minutes for Argentina on their way to win the trophy.

Raphael Varane made his comeback in the win over Nottingham Forest yesterday, with Harry Maguire coming off the bench.

United’s other World Cup participants featured in the Carabao Cup win over Burnley last week.

Illness has caused a selection difficulty for United in defence, with Maguire and Victor Lindelof each missing games.

Casemiro and Luke Shaw have both filled in successfully, with United keeping clean sheets in both matches.

Martinez’s return moves United back to full strength, and it is likely he is part of the squad to take on Wolves this coming Saturday.
