Lisandro Martinez has taken to social media to celebrate one year at Manchester United.

How time flies? A whole year of Lisandro Martinez, and what a year it’s been. It seems like only yesterday that the 5’7 Argentine was bullied at the Gtech Community Stadium by a dominant Brentford side, which sparked a wave of media controversy about Martinez’s height and whether he was physical enough for the Premier League.

Fast forward a year… now everyone’s complaining that he’s too boisterous on the pitch! The centre-half proved every single doubter wrong in his first season and has cemented himself as one of Manchester United‘s most important players.

He’s only going to go from strength to strength, and we can’t wait to see what next season holds for Licha.

A year in this incredible club. There are no words to describe how happy I am here. Let’s all go together and fight for our dreams,’ the caption reads.

Licha really has been a breath of fresh air since his arrival. We finally now have a competent centre-half partnership in Raphael Varane and the little Argentine, which was a problem at Old Trafford for years.

Martinez’s best United moments

During his short stint at the club, Martinez has already created memories to last a lifetime. Here are a few below:

Signing day

Martinez arrived from Ajax for a fee of £47m, with that potentially set to rise. Looking back n this – absolute bargain. He was all smiles the day he signed and that grin hasn’t left his face since.

Carabao Cup win

The first bit of silverware for many years and Licha was at the heart of it all. He was immense throughout the campaign and thoroughly deserved to get his hands on the Carabao Cup.

First United goal

Although beaten 3-2 at the Emirates, Lisandro Martinez thoroughly enjoyed his first Man United. He was so ecstatic that he decided to run full pelt and slide tackle to the corner flag. Never change Licha.
