Lisandro Martinez has been pushing to land his big move to Manchester United, The Daily Record reported.
Now, more details from AS, shed light on just how keen Martinez has been to leave Ajax.
Lisandro Martinez ‘interrupted holiday’
AS report Martinez interrupted his holiday last week to travel to Ajax and inform them of his desire to quit the club.
The report explained: “In the middle of his vacation he went to Amsterdam to speak with the managers of the Dutch club. The defender explained to them that, given the amounts of the proposals, he understood that it would be best for all parties to accept at least one of them.”
Martinez then reportedly contacted Ajax by phone on Monday to re-emphasise his desire to leave the club. The Argentine international is not yet back in training.

Bigger United offer expected
Manchester United and Arsenal are competing to sign Martinez and it is the Red Devils who are widely regarded as having the advantage, due to Erik ten Hag, who first signed him for Ajax.
AS report United are expected to return with an improved offer, for a deal which could reach 50 million euros (£42.3 million).
Martinez is said to be very tempted by the idea of re-uniting with manager Erik ten Hag.
United were said by The Mirror last weekend to have submitted a £40 million offer, which was not enough to tempt Ajax into a sale. But amid the centre-back’s desire to leave, it is clearly going to be tough for them to hold onto him.
