Alejandro Garnacho was not picked in Argentina’s squad by Lionel Scaloni for the upcoming international break games.

The Manchester United winger was left out of his national side squad when they announced the full roster last week.

Argentina newspaper Ole reported that former United winger Angel di Maria is preferred, while Paulo Dybala has also returned from injury.

However, the national boss Lionel Scaloni has revealed the real reason for Alejandro Garnacho‘s absence.

Why Alejandro Garnacho isn’t in the Argentina squad

Scaloni was asked in his press conference why the teenager was missing from the squad, given the fact he was in the side last time around.

“It’s a football issue. We don’t like to bring players in and constantly leave them out or leave them out of the squad. Everyone wants to be there and it’s great, but the human side plays and you have to make decisions,” Scaloni said.

He then added: “It would have been easy to bring him in, but in the last few call-ups he didn’t get minutes and there are times when you have to make decisions, but he’s a guy who’s on our radar and he’s going to continue to be there and he has a huge future.”

The Argentine National Team will play against Uruguay and Brazil for the South American Qualifiers, but Garnacho will remain in Manchester as per his coach’s orders.

Not necessarily a bad thing for Manchester United or Alejandro Garnacho

With injuries coming thick and fast this season – the exclusion from the Argentina squad will probably be a welcomed one for Erik ten Hag.

Garnacho is one of United’s most dangerous attackers on his day and is looking to now be a part of a front three going forward with Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford.

The young lad has plenty of time to shine on the international stage – but for now, his priority has to be Manchester United.
