Liam Rosenior hints at Enzo Fernandez return for Man Utd clash

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior confirms Enzo Fernandez is back in contention for selection to face Manchester United after serving an internal suspension.

Manchester United take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday, looking to bridge a 10-point gap over their West London rivals.

The race for Champions League qualification is heating up, but victory for United this weekend would come as a major setback to Chelsea’s chances – unless other teams collapse or Aston Villa win the Europa League.

It will be Liam Rosenior’s first time facing United following a rocky start at Stamford Bridge.

Will he even get off the bench this time?

Enzo Fernandez available to face Man Utd

Fernandez was given a two-game suspension by Chelsea for flirting with the idea of a move to Real Madrid in the summer.

With the two-match suspension served, Rosenior was inevitably asked whether the Argentine international would be reintroduced to the matchday squad for their upcoming league meeting against United.

Rosenior stressed that he would not give anything away in terms of his team selection, but he did say Fernandez is back training with the rest of the Chelsea players.

“I don’t ever tell you the starting XI,” Fernandez told reporters on Thursday.

“Enzo has been training and he has been training very well. It’s business as usual in terms of selection for the game.”

When asked if the Fernandez situation affected the group, Rosenior added: “Not that I’m aware of, no.

“Enzo has been back with the group this week and has been fantastic.”

SURELY Ayden Heaven will start vs Chelsea? Or will Carrick try and find another solution? 🤔

Liam Rosenior refuses to comment on Man Utd’s inexperienced defence

United will be without three experienced centre-backs for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Matthijs de Ligt is still out injured, while Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are serving suspensions.

That means Carrick will likely start with Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven in the heart of defence.

The Chelsea head coach was asked about United’s defence when he said: “I don’t talk about individuals of other teams.

“We have a way we play. In terms of chance creation, we’re still very good, we just haven’t taken those chances.”
