Brendan Rodgers is hoping to have three key Leicester City players available for the trip to face Manchester United.

The Foxes head to Old Trafford on Saturday, 2 April, in what is both clubs first match after the international break.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United lost the reverse clash 4-2 at the King Power Stadium back in October which was also the first match after an international break.

Rodgers has already stated that influential midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is set to miss out on the trip to the Theatre of Dreams with a knee problem.

The Nigerian international will have missed both clashes against United this season.

But in more positive news for the UEFA Conference League quarter-finalists, Rodgers is hoping to have three of their most influential players available to face Ralf Rangnick’s men.

Former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans came off the bench in the 2-1 win against Brentford having missed the last 12 games with a hamstring injury.

Foxes top goalscorer Jamie Vardy could also return from a knee injury after missing the last two Premier League games.

The 35-year-old scored the crucial third goal back in October, moments after Marcus Rashford announced his return to action by drawing United level.

Speaking on Vardy’s potential availability, Rodgers said: “Hopefully Jamie should be back training with us within the next week or so, so that’s great news. He may not be too far away after the international break.”

And after making his long-awaited return after a fractured fibula sustained last August – Wesley Fofana could make his first Premier League appearance of the season.

The 21-year-old French Under-21 international announced his return to fitness with his first Leicester goal in the 2-1 defeat in Rennes.

The former Saint Etienne man wasn’t risked against Thomas Frank’s Brentford side due to the games being in quick succession.

But with Fofana having two further weeks to build up fitness, Rodgers could unleash Leicester’s ‘fantastic’ number three against Manchester United.

Rodgers added: “He’s an elite young player who’s going to develop into a top-class player.

“He’s a fantastic talent.

“We’re delighted to have him back but we’ve just got to assess him on a daily basis now.”
