Kobbie Mainoo has changed what he’s doing in training ahead of Casemiro leaving Manchester United

Kobbie Mainoo has realised that he is running out of time to learn from Casemiro, who will leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

Casemiro announced his Manchester United exit in January. Since then, the media has focused on the search for replacements in the transfer market.

United have been linked with many players, with Ryan Giggs naming two targets with Premier League experience to fulfil the role.

Kobbie Mainoo’s recent resurgence suggests the 21-year-old will have a role to play in United’s future, regardless of whether Michael Carrick remains head coach or not.

Kobbie Mainoo’s leaning on Casemiro’s experience

Given Mainoo’s age and Casemiro’s experience in the game, the young England midfielder should be doing everything he can to sponge from the Brazilian veteran.

Mainoo would have learned plenty from Casemiro since he started playing regularly with the former Real Madrid ace, but in the final weeks of the season, he is going the extra mile.

Ian Irving has provided an update on the recent Talk of the Devils podcast, stressing that Mainoo is speaking to Casemiro more in training ahead of his departure.

“I’ve been told he’s (Mainoo) speaking a lot more to Casemiro,” Irving said.

“There’s a sense across the squad that people are trying to get the moment with Casemiro because they know time is running out.

“So those little conversations, those little tip bits after training are being extended more and more just so everyone can just soak up that expertise.”

Mainoo performed brilliantly alongside Casemiro in United’s 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.

They have five more games left to play before the season comes to an end.

Casemiro’s final five games for Man Utd

Casemiro is expected to start all of United’s remaining Premier League matches, unless the Brazilian gets injured or picks up a suspension.

These fixtures will decide whether United are playing in the Champions League next season, although with five places up for grabs, that is almost guaranteed.

The first of the five fixtures is at home to Brentford before hosting Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Then, it’s a trip to Sunderland before returning to the Theatre of Dreams for Nottingham Forest’s visit.

The season ends away at Brighton.
