Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has provided an update on the takeover of Manchester United as the wait goes on for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to complete his proposed 25 per cent acquisition of the club.
The 71-year-old is the favourite to win the year-long race to buy the club after Sheikh Jassim ended his interest in Manchester United, BBC Sport report.
That was nearly three weeks ago and there has not been an update on the situation since then and the silence from the decision makers continues to be deafening.
Well, Kieran Maguire has given an update on the situation and has given a timeline on the deal and when it could be announced.

Takeover update
Speaking on The Price Of Football podcast, Kieran Maguire believes that a deal is close but nowhere near done and has given his thoughts on whether Sheikh Jassim could reenter the race.
“It’s certainly not a done deal yet, we’ve had no white smoke from the chimney, we will have to wait and see,” Maguire said,
“From my time in business, it’s only ever a done deal when the contracts have been signed and the money has been transferred across.”
“What is clear, however, is that Sheikh Jassim is hacked off with the Glazers. People in his circle have described him as slippery and the Qataris are 100% out of the race.
“What seems more likely now is that they will take their money and try and invest it into Tottenham Hotspur.”
United’s confusion
Gary Neville suggested that the delay in the takeover is having a toxic effect on United as a club and is beginning to filter through to the squad.
It seems Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen on performing a clearout of the club and this uncertainty will naturally mean that the current employees at the club are fearing for their future.
The club, after a year of avoiding it, are back in a crisis and things need to move, quickly.
